Listed for sale in September 2020, this Boeing 747-8i serial number 37075 rolled out of  Boeing’s Seattle production facility in early 2012 destined for Basel, Switzerland where it  spent the next three years being fitted out with a gorgeous, completely customized 4-zone VIP interior. Ater final testing and certification, the aircraft entered service in July 2015. In its five years of service since, its completed 150 missions totaling 1,069 Hours.

Holding 89 passengers (plus 14 crew) and weighing in at 650,000 pounds without fuel, the aircraft comes close to a 7-figure maximum takeoff weight: 984,929 pounds.

Guests enter the aircraft via a main entrance configured as a grand lobby. With generous dimensions reminiscent of a home or yacht, this space immediately lets guests know they’re boarding a very special jet. In fact, the floor area in this one section alone is larger than the entire cabin of a a mid-size bizjet.

Magnificent as this main lobby is, principals have a private entrance which leads directly to the VIP owners suite, a cabin zone (one of 4) which has been configured as a self-contained VIP living area. This large space,  arranged as shown in the layout diagram,  includes a Master and a Guest stateroom, each with its own full private bath, connected to dedicated a private lounge.  While the entire aircraft is extensively soundproofed, the VIP Suite received extra attention to noise reduction. Along with a prime forward location, additional abatement materials lower ambient noise in this cabin zone by 2 db more than the rest of the aircraft to a 50db rating during normal flight, a noise level is typical of a quiet office. For  comparison, 60db is typical for a busy office, and 70db for a crowded  restaurant.

Should guests wish to occupy the VIP suite for takeoff and landing, the private lounge seats 9.  A private office is located just aft of the VIP suite, which seats 4 for taxi, takeoff and landing.

In addition to the lavatories within two full baths in the VIP suite, 7 additional lavatories are available to passengers and crew. The aircraft has a total of 8 galleys including the large, full-service galleys pictured below: forward (top) aft (mid) and amidships (bottom). The aft galley includes large, walk-in storage areas that double as dog houses.  Galley equipment includes 6 large refrigerators, 3 refrigerator-freezers, an air chiller, 6 espresso makers, 7 steam ovens, 2 microwaves and 6 trash compactors.  The forward galley is connected via lift to the smaller upper deck galley, allowing it to serve both spaces.

Aside from the principals suite, two additional cabin zones provide a range of office, dining, and and lounge seating. The fourth zone, located at the rear of the main level in front of the aft galley, holds 24 passengers in dual seat business-class type pods. These seating modules were custom-designed for this aircraft in order to allow for complete control of cabin systems.

Coming posts will include more photos and details about this amazing aircraft, including its office capabilities, entertainment options, decor and the wide range of seating options that accomodate passengers and crew.
